Coolster Bio - Coolster has been around for about 6 years now. They are known as having an odd name but well built product. Unlike alot of companies that import powersports product they are known for designing and manufacturing their own frames instead of outsourcing. This means better quality control. They have used ZongShen engines since the beginning and and were one of the first. Today most competitors with Coolster are now using the ZongShen motor because of its proven reliability. Killer was invited to China to help with the redesign of some of their products in 2007 and Killer also helped develop the current graphics kits used on their bikes. Coolster understood that to get ahead of the curve, they would have to get some outside consulting from people involved in the Industry to improve on their products. The result has meant, better quality parts, easier inter-changeability with Honda/Kawasaki, and Coolster was one of the first companies to start using the now coveted YX150cc Engine.

When I went to China this last trip, I talked with the Factory owner on the direction and focus on some of their bikes. The XR was getting phased out and they were not sure what to replace it with. I suggested to keep the XR but make some modifications. Change the Wheel Setup from 14”F/12”R to 12”F/10”R, since a lot of riders prefer that setup. Next I suggest to put in stiffer front springs and add a reservoir to the rear shock. There were also a few little changes like beefing up the tires, changing to chain adjuster blocks, changing the engine to gunmetal, and chopping down the side cover, etc. A lot of little improvements that help the bike perform better and look cooler. When I was also in China I helped the factory to created new “unified” graphics for their bike line. As you can see on this bike the graphics look a lot better than the factory “speed” graphics that used to come on the bike. The bike is also a lot lighter this time around, so the 125cc engine feels like it has even more power and torque. For the money, the newly designed XR-2 will beat anything around that price range.
